3d Printing Guide for Armybits
Printed Model Test
The figures have been printed on an Elegoo Saturn 2 with 8k resin using standard supports.
Sculpting
So to sculpting! For the past 7 years or so I have invested my time in learning Zbrush and have successfully launched a range of STL files on my website. These are US Infantry forces, the Soviet VDV and others – The files are exaggerated for 15mm printable figures. They were tested at 12mm and 20mm and all came out great. I have not tested 10mm prints and barrels might be fragile on some weapons.
Comparison – scaled 20mm 15mm 12mm
They were created with a 3d resin printer in mind. I have tested all the figures on an elegoo Saturn 2 8k and numerous resin 4k printers without issues. They will not be supplied pre-supported as I find that every printer has variances suitable for the printer or the person printing it. I will supply the details of my printer settings and pictures of the support I use. They are all chitubox auto supports with a couple of additional supports on the magazine at times. Here are the settings that I successfully print my figures with. I use chitubox slicer and 8k resin from Elegoo. I run the temp at around 25 degrees min.
On importing, I first rotate from 40 to 55 degrees. I used 50 here.
I then use auto-support – light – as per settings.
For rifle magazines, I always make sure that they have some additional support if required.
And that is how I print my 3d files! They may vary per printer and resin!
